Welcome!

Hi! As Carole King says (well, sings), “Welcome to my living room.” I’m a freelance writer and a former columnist for The News and Observer in Raleigh, NC. I write nonfiction books and articles, and creative nonfiction essays. As my former editor says, I write about pretty much everything from John-Boy to underwear. And believe me, as the youngest of eight kids, I have plenty of material.

My latest book is All on Account of You: A True WWII Love Story, which I published on lulu.com. It is the true story of my parents’ courtship in the 1940s.

Captured Words: A Sentimental Journey is a book of funny and thoughtful essays about everyday life.

Thinking About Therapy? What to Expect From “The Talking Cure” is a guidebook to therapy, in question and answer format.

Feel free to kick off your shoes and make yourself at home. You’ll find plenty of reading material, including a sampling of my articles, excerpts and reviews, links to informative sites, FAQs, book club info, etc.

Please stop by anytime. I’ll post periodic updates on my blog to tell you what I’m thinking about, what I’m working on, and where else you can visit me.

Warm Regards,
Elaine
